GENRE: Dystopian literature
George Orwell’s 1984 is one of the most engrossing, disturbing, and provocative novels ever written. Its anti-hero, Winston Smith, toils in the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history to suit the Party’s version of reality. But beneath his obedient exterior lies a growing rebellion – a desperate yearning for truth, love, and freedom in a society where independent thought is a crime and surveillance is absolute. As Winston dares to question the regime of Big Brother, he is drawn into a terrifying cat-and-mouse game where nothing is safe – not even his own mind.
This new adaptation will bring Orwell’s vision to life in a fast-paced and imaginative re-telling, offering multiple opportunities for performers and designers to create an innovative production of this unnerving classic. A chillingly relevant struggle that still resonates in today’s world.
GENRE: Fantasy, Festive, Dark Humour
It's the night before Hogswatch. And it's too quiet. Superstition makes things work in the Discworld, and undermining it can have consequences.
It's just not right to find Death creeping down chimneys and trying to say 'Ho Ho Ho...'
It's the last night of the year, the time is turning, and if Susan, gothic governess and Death's granddaughter (sort of), doesn't sort everything out by morning, there won't be a morning. Ever again...
Adapted by Terry Pratchett's long-time collaborator Stephen Briggs, this play text version of Pratchett's bestselling Discworld novel Hogfather wittily and faithfully reimagines the story for the stage.
A hugely entertaining festive treat for newcomers to Terry Pratchett’s Discworld and a delight for existing fans. Suitable for ages 8-108.

Harlequin Theatre LIVE
We held our first LIVE streamed performance at the theatre on Saturday 25 July 2020. Thank you to everybody who tuned in and made a donation toward the running of the theatre during this testing time. We would also like to say thank you to the Urban Trendz Theatre Team who bought this to our screens in a joint project with us raising some much needed funds. Our Chairperson took on the role of Lucy Fuller in this one woman show, ‘Where Do Little Birds Go?’ We have left up our promo video for ‘Where Do Little Birds Go?’ and the feedback we had.
“Excellently acted. A very moving performance
Fascinating story, very well told. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Fabulous production kudos to everyone involved. I was in the theatre from the first moment. Laura gave us such a compelling and brave performance and grew into the role as each scene unfurled. A true tour de force.
Great being able to watch and enjoy live theatre again from the safety and comfort of home.
Excellent. Drew you in and although it was in an empty theatre, it didn’t feel like that at all.
The ensemble staging was excellent. Script, Laura’s amazing feat of memory and acting, Direction, lighting and camerawork.
Everything...... excellent acting. Well done to you all
A first for the theatre streaming live, fantastic solo performance by Laura. Everyone involved should be proud of their achievements.
